Pastor John K. Jenkins Sr.

DISCERNMENT FOR MARRIAGE

Pastor Jenkins taught that marriage is a sacred, lifelong covenant established by God that should never be entered into without spiritual discernment. Drawing from Philippians 1:9–11, he emphasized that believers must grow in love, knowledge, and spiritual perception to recognize what is excellent and pleasing to God before making a lifelong commitment. Selecting a spouse is the second most important decision a person will ever make, requiring believers to look beyond physical attraction, emotion, or societal pressure. Rather than marrying to cure loneliness, obtain financial security, or appease others, couples must align their relationship with biblical truth and seek God’s explicit direction. When approached according to Scripture, a healthy, godly marriage honors God and serves as a living model of Christ's relationship with His Church.
