Feed the Hungry Ministry

The vision and mission of the Feed the Hungry Ministry is feeding the homeless physically and spiritually and giving hope.

Jesus said “for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink.” Since January 1991, Feed the Hungry has hit the streets every Saturday, satisfying the hunger and thirst of people in Prince George’s County (Md.).

More than just providing a nutritious meal and drink, the ministry also delivers spiritual food through tracts. The ministry began by serving 35 lunches with coffee. Now, decades later, roughly 240 people are served every week!

Feed the Hungry also provides a Thanksgiving Day meal every year at the Ministry Center. If you are new to the area or have no family & friends to dine with on Thanksgiving Day, we invite you to join us! Please fill out the registration form.

Thousands of families count on SHARE each month for affordable, nutritious groceries. Monthly value packages cost just $22 and include $40-$50 worth of basic and healthy groceries, typically made up of 4-5 pounds of frozen protein products, 1-3 grocery items, and 8-9 pounds of fresh produce. Anyone and everyone may buy as many SHARE packages as they would like by registering in advance.

SHABACH! emergency empowerment center

Over the past 15 years, the SHABACH! Emergency Empowerment Center founding values have not changed. Our values have evolved to meet current community challenges. We believe that every family – regardless of socioeconomic status – should be able to get some help when they experience risk factors that limit their capacity to meet individual and societal expectations.

To meet our community’s needs, the Empowerment Center offers emergency food, household items and clothing assistance to children, families and individuals. The Center also provides technical assistance in emergency service program development to area community agencies, churches and family shelter programs throughout Prince George’s County (Md.) and the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.
