Q: What is a baby blessing?
Baby Blessings Calendar
A: Baby blessing is the act of giving back to God the gift He has given to parents. It is an act of worship, thanksgiving, dependence, trust and commitment. The practice of baby blessing has been modeled throughout the Bible. For example, Hannah brought her long-awaited son Samuel to the priest Eli to dedicate him to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:24-28). Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple for His dedication (Luke 2:22-24).
Q: When & where are baby blessings held?
We recognize that salvation only comes to a child through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Therefore, it is not passed on to a child through baby blessing. Parents commit to raise their children by modeling godly principles with the desire that one day they will receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
A: Baby blessings are generally held on the third Sunday of each month immediately following the noon worship service at the Worship Center, 600 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro, Md., in the sanctuary. There are a few exceptions contingent upon the FBCG church calendar.
